Indoor Season 2026/27: What Changed on Zwift, Rouvy and TrainerRoad

Zwift, Rouvy and TrainerRoad go into this winter more closely linked than they were a year ago. Zwift bought Rouvy in April. Rouvy now runs Zwift’s shifting hardware and TrainerRoad’s workouts. TrainerRoad relaunched its training tools as TrainerRoad AI in January, and Zwift’s autumn update brought a revised Zwift Ride, a WHOOP link and a way to hold a power target in free rides.

Below is what changed in 2026 and what each platform costs now. Every date, figure and price comes from the companies’ own announcements and pricing pages or from the outlets that covered them, all listed at the end.

Dated changes on Zwift, Rouvy and TrainerRoad in 2026. Dates are from Zwift’s press releases, TrainerRoad’s blog posts, and BikeRadar and Cycling Weekly’s reports of Rouvy’s 2 September announcement; the 1.124 rollout date is from the5krunner and Zwift Insider. The 26 October and 23 November entries are Zwift’s schedule, not confirmed launches.

Zwift: Ride V2, Watt Lock, WHOOP and New Roads

Zwift set out its autumn plans in a press release on 9 September. These are the parts that change how you train.

Zwift Ride V2

The updated Zwift Ride went on sale that day at the old price: $1,299.99, €1,199.99 or £1,099.99, which BikeRadar notes includes a Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 trainer. The changes are about fit. Adjustable cranks are now standard in five lengths (160, 165, 170, 172.5 and 175 mm), a redesigned seatpost gives more fore-aft range (BikeRadar and Escape Collective put the extra at 50 mm), and a more compact frame fits riders from 146 to 198 cm. Owners of the first Ride can buy the cranks and seatpost from Zwift.com as an accessory; the release gives no price for it.

For triathletes, Profile Design announced the Zwift Ride Supersonic on 8 October: an aero cockpit with ski-bend extensions, armrest pads and mounts for Zwift Click controllers, at $275 / €245 / £220. The release says it works on both Zwift and Rouvy.

Watt Lock

Watt Lock is ERG mode for free riding. Zwift describes it as a one-click switch on the Action Bar that locks you to a target power, and sums it up as “Now Zone 2 days, stay Zone 2.” It arrived in game version 1.124, which began rolling out on 20 October on macOS, Windows and Android, with iOS and tvOS following on 21 October, according to the5krunner. From the5krunner’s write-up and Zwift Insider’s notes on the update:

  • It works in free rides, RoboPacer rides, meetups, group rides and fondos, but not in races, workouts, group workouts or time trials.
  • You can switch it on once you are pedalling at 50 W or more, from the Action Bar or Zwift Companion, and change the target in 1 W steps with the Action Bar, the keyboard or the shift buttons on Zwift controllers.
  • It switches off if cadence drops below 25 rpm, when you enter an event start pen, or when you stop pedalling at a Coffee Stop or in a banded group ride.
  • After it switches off, the trainer returns to a default virtual gear rather than the one you were in. Zwift says a future update will restore your gear.

WHOOP

The WHOOP connection went live with the 9 September announcement. Zwift reads the WHOOP Recovery Score, and on red-recovery days it adjusts its Personal Recommendations automatically. Zwift also said WHOOP users would see their Zwift rides and runs in the WHOOP app later in the autumn; we found no confirmation yet that this part has shipped.

New Watopia Roads and the Event Calendar

Zwift has scheduled its Watopia expansion for 26 October, in time for Stage 4 of the Tour of Watopia. It describes about 18 km of new road, inspired by Catalina Island and California’s West Coast, linking Jarvis to the Jungle, with a flat bypass around the Epic KOM and two crit-style circuits built for racing. (Escape Collective’s 9 September summary said September; we use the date in Zwift’s own release.)

The rest of the calendar: the Tour of Watopia runs from 5 October to 22 November with double XP, and Power Play, built on Power Segments in New York, Montmartre, The Grade and the new roads, runs from 23 November to 27 December. Zwift is also redesigning the game and Companion home screens this autumn, and in March it announced Plan Your Week in Companion, which fills in planned workouts from connected training apps automatically.

Zwift and Rouvy: What the Acquisition Changed

On 29 April Zwift announced that it had acquired Rouvy, the real-video route platform. Terms were not disclosed. Both companies said they would keep operating independently, with separate roadmaps and separate subscriptions, and Rouvy founder and CEO Petr Samek said “ROUVY will continue to be the ROUVY you all know and love.” Bicycle Retailer notes that Rouvy had itself bought FulGaz from the IRONMAN Group in January 2025 and Bkool in July 2025.

The immediate change was hardware: from the announcement, Zwift Ready smart trainers and the Zwift Ride worked with Rouvy, and Zwift promised more compatibility updates over the following months. Rouvy’s autumn update on 2 September, reported by BikeRadar and Cycling Weekly, added the following:

  • Cog and Click: trainers with Zwift’s Cog and Click now work natively with Rouvy, with virtual shifting and controls on the handlebars. The Zwift Ride works as a complete Rouvy setup, and since 9 September Rouvy’s own shop has sold a Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE 2: ROUVY Edition at €1,199.99. Its sticker set ships separately, expected in November, according to the shop.
  • Shared progress: Zwift and Rouvy accounts can be linked under Connected Apps in Rouvy’s Riders Portal. BikeRadar reports that a quarter of the points earned on one platform carry over to the other, and Zwift Insider’s notes on version 1.124 say Rouvy rides now earn XP in Zwift at a reduced rate.
  • Enhanced routes: Rouvy is reprocessing its route videos with more detail and better speed adjustment, which should mean less warping when you ride a route faster than it was filmed. BikeRadar says Rouvy expects the whole library to be done in about 12 months. New routes come from Morocco, India and Patagonia.
  • App changes: Rouvy’s what’s-new page for version 4.7 (September) adds event search, a Ride Later list, a preview when you move the Teleport pin, and a daily workout suggestion in the Rouvy Companion app based on your Training and Recovery scores.
  • Group riding: users created 850 clubs and 130 communities after Rouvy launched them in the summer, and Club Challenges arrive this autumn. Rouvy also announced group rides from October led by Wout van Aert and Victor Campenaerts (both Visma | Lease a Bike) and Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek), with the full calendar to follow.

Neither company has announced a combined subscription. The acquisition release and the September coverage describe two products with separate subscriptions and roadmaps.

TrainerRoad: TrainerRoad AI and Workouts in Rouvy

TrainerRoad’s main change came in January. On 21 January it launched TrainerRoad AI on its web, desktop and mobile apps. TrainerRoad’s launch posts list the main pieces:

  • A four-week Training Simulation on the calendar that re-runs whenever you complete or edit a workout.
  • AI FTP Prediction, which projects your FTP up to 28 days ahead, and an updated AI FTP Detection that calibrates from existing power files, so the fixed set of 10 indoor rides is no longer needed.
  • Predicted Difficulty, which labels upcoming workouts from Easy to Maximal, and predictive fatigue detection, which TrainerRoad says spots fatigue before it happens and recommends recovery days that you can accept or undo.
  • AI Workouts (pick a discipline, duration and format), a Training Approach setting for how demanding your plan is, Dynamic Endurance (long rides that build toward a maximum length you set) and Workout Alternates (easier, harder, shorter or longer swaps).

Smaller additions followed. Power Records, added on 11 February, plots a workout’s power curve against your best efforts, by default over the last six weeks. On 1 July TrainerRoad added one-tap Heat and Menstrual Cycle options to the post-workout survey, which it says help TrainerRoad AI tell a bad day from a real change in fitness.

TrainerRoad Workouts in Rouvy

On 1 September TrainerRoad workouts became available in Rouvy, following the Zwift integration TrainerRoad launched in February 2025. TrainerRoad’s own guide sets out how it works:

  • You need active subscriptions to both services and the latest Rouvy app. The TrainerRoad app doesn’t need to be running.
  • The indoor cycling workout scheduled for today is sent to Rouvy, or, without a plan, TrainerRoad’s recommended workout for the day. Runs, outside workouts, Ramp Tests and other FTP tests, group rides and rest days send nothing.
  • Workouts run in ERG mode by default, with targets set by your TrainerRoad FTP. Terrain and drafting don’t change them.
  • The ride ends when the workout ends, intensity can be raised to at most 150% of the target, and the ride syncs back to TrainerRoad within a few minutes.

What Each Platform Costs This Winter

These are the prices on each platform’s own site or pricing guide in October 2026, in the currencies they list. Zwift and Rouvy Single cost the same per month in euros (€19.99), but Rouvy’s annual plan is €20 cheaper. TrainerRoad lists its prices in US dollars: $21.99 a month, $2 more than Zwift’s US price.

Zwift: US prices from its support FAQ (updated September 2026); euro prices from Zwift’s own pricing guide (December 2025) and shown on zwift.com’s pricing page on 26 October 2026; pound prices from that guide; trial and refund terms from that guide and Zwift’s EU pricing page. Rouvy: rouvy.com pricing page, which listed euro prices. TrainerRoad: trainerroad.com pricing page, in US dollars. Zwift says taxes may be added or included based on your billing location.

TrainerRoad is a training-plan platform rather than a virtual world, so riding its workouts in Zwift or Rouvy means paying for both. On annual plans in the US, TrainerRoad and Zwift together come to $409.98 a year.

What It Means for Your Winter

  • If you own Zwift hardware (a Zwift Ride, a Zwift Ready trainer, or a trainer with Cog and Click), you can now use it on Rouvy too, with virtual shifting. Rouvy pitches this as another software option for that hardware.
  • If you train with TrainerRoad, the same structured workout can now be ridden in Zwift’s virtual worlds or on Rouvy’s filmed roads, as long as you pay for both subscriptions.
  • If you ride Zwift for steady endurance work, Watt Lock holds a power target outside a structured workout, but only on a trainer with ERG mode and not in races.
  • If you wear a WHOOP, Zwift now uses its Recovery Score to adjust recommendations on red-recovery days.
